K41 Dive Site

K41 takes its name from the kilometre marker on the coast road west of Dili that points to the entry — a small layby and a short scramble down to a rocky beach. The reef begins almost at your fins: a steep wall that drops past 40 metres into the Wetar Strait, one of the deepest channels in Southeast Asia and a corridor for migrating cetaceans.

Visibility is regularly over 30 metres in season (April to November). The wall is covered in sea fans and barrel sponges; turtles, reef sharks, and the occasional manta cruise the blue. A passing whale or pod of dolphins is not unusual. Sign up with a Dili dive operator for transport and tanks — the surface entry is rough and the current can be sharp.
