Beaches

Nellore district has over 100 km of coastline, most of it undeveloped and blissfully uncrowded. Mypadu, Katepalli, and Kotha Koduru are the easiest to reach from the city — all around 20 km out. There are no water sports facilities to speak of, which is either a drawback or the whole point depending on who you ask. APSRTC buses run to some of these beaches, particularly on weekends.

Katepalli Beach

A quiet stretch of sand about 20 km from Nellore that sees relatively few visitors. Worth the trip if you want to get away from the city without a crowd.

Mypadu Beach

One of the better-known beaches near Nellore, about 20 km from the city centre. Regular bus connections from Nellore, especially on Sundays when it gets busy with local families.

Kotha Koduru Beach

A beach village around 20 km from Nellore with an old Velankani Church that draws pilgrims alongside beach visitors. Buses run from Nellore on Sundays.

Thupilipalyem Beach

About 12 km from Vakadu, this beach has a guest house with basic rooms and boating facilities — unusual for this stretch of coast. Surrounded by trees, it's greener than most beaches in the district. Buses run from Kota.
