Nellore is genuinely well-regarded in Andhra Pradesh for its food, particularly the spicy Nellore fish curry. The city also has a strong tradition of pot biryani. Most of the eating happens at mid-range local restaurants; there's nothing upscale, but there's plenty of good, honest food at reasonable prices. Hotel Riyaz is locally famous for pot biryani.
