Krishnapatnam is one of the largest all-weather ports on India's east coast, about 40 km south of Nellore, and the main driver of the district's contemporary economy. The area around the port is not a tourist site, but the approach road along the coast reveals the scale of Andhra Pradesh's industrial expansion — cranes, cargo ships, and port infrastructure against a coast that, a few kilometres north or south, is entirely undeveloped.
A curiosity rather than a destination, but useful context for understanding why Nellore's economy has grown faster than most comparable coastal towns in southern India. The coastal road between Nellore and Krishnapatnam passes close enough to several beaches to make the trip worthwhile as a combined outing.
