The classic Assamese thali in Guwahati. Paradise on G.S. Road, Silpukhuri, has been serving traditional thalis since 1979 — a sequence of small bowls including khar, dal, alu pitika, masor tenga (sour fish curry), bhaji, pickle and rice, with a fish or chicken or pork main on request. The thalis are filling, well-priced (₹250–₹450) and consistent.
Service is brisk; lunchtime is busy and you may have to wait. The chain has a few other branches around the city but the Silpukhuri original is the best. If you only eat Assamese food once, eat it here.
