Buddha Smriti Park is a 22-acre landscaped park on Frazer Road, opposite Patna Junction. It was opened in 2010 by the Dalai Lama on the site of the old Bankipore Jail. The Patliputra Karuna Stupa at its centre contains relics of the Buddha brought from Vaishali, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Burma, Korea, and Japan.
The park is one of the few green spaces in central Patna and a useful refuge from the traffic. There is a small museum on Buddhism, a meditation centre, and a couple of cafes. A small entry fee is charged. Best visited in the early morning or late afternoon.
