On the eastern shore of the Lakhota Lake stands the Bala Hanuman Temple, a working Hindu temple best known for its non-stop chanting. The temple compound is modest and crowded at the popular evening hours, when devotees come to take part in the round-the-clock recitation that has continued without break for more than half a century.
The atmosphere — a low, continuous chant, lights reflected on the water, families coming and going — is more memorable than the architecture. A short visit on a slow walk around the lake is enough.
