A cluster of four old Jain temples sits in the heart of old Jamnagar, including the well-known Shantinath and Adinath temples. The interiors are richly worked — coloured marble, mirror-mosaic walls, gilded ceilings, and panels of detailed religious painting — and the dome of the Shantinath temple is one of the most striking in Gujarat.
Photography inside is restricted but the temples are open to respectful visitors. Remove shoes and any leather, dress modestly, and follow the lead of the worshippers. The temples are clustered close enough to see all four in an hour.
