A stout circular watchtower on the western shore of the Lakhota Lake, the Bhujio Kotho was built in the 19th century as part of the city's defences. The walls are pierced with gun-loops and the upper terrace once held cannon. From the top there is a view across the lake to the Lakhota Palace and on to the old city beyond.
The tower is not consistently open to the public, but the exterior is striking enough to warrant a stop on a walk around the lake. Combine with the palace and the Bala Hanuman temple for a quick old-city circuit.
