Bhadrakali Temple

Bhadrakali Temple is the spiritual heart of Bhadarwah, dedicated to the fierce goddess Kali in her Bhadra (auspicious) form. The temple sits in the older part of town and draws a steady stream of devotees from the surrounding villages throughout the year.

The architecture blends Himalayan shikhara style with local stonework, and the inner sanctum holds an ancient idol draped in vivid cloth offerings. The temple is most animated in August during the Bhadarwah Mela and Kailash Yatra season, when the whole town fills with pilgrims from Doda district and beyond. Even outside festival season the atmosphere is calm and genuinely devotional — this is not a tourist attraction but a working temple, and visitors are welcome if they approach it respectfully.
