Orchha Fort Complex

The Orchha Fort Complex is the natural starting point for the town. Enter across the bridge from the market side and you are immediately inside the Bundela court world: stone courtyards, balconies, domed pavilions, and palace walls layered with faded painting.

The complex includes major monuments such as Jahangir Mahal and Raj Mahal, but it is worth treating the whole enclosure as one experience. Give it time. The best views often come from upper terraces looking back toward the temples and the Betwa.

A story
Orchha's fort was not just a defensive enclosure. It was the Bundela court's stage set, with palaces, courtyards, audience halls, and raised views toward the river and town.
