Orchha's sights are unusually concentrated: fort palaces, living temples, painted interiors, riverside cenotaphs, and short walks along the Betwa. Start with the fort complex, then cross back into town for the temples and finish at the chhatris near sunset.
Jhansi is close enough for a day trip, but staying overnight gives the monuments room and makes the riverfront much more rewarding.
