Orchha Nature Reserve covers riverine and scrubland habitat around the Betwa, close enough to the monuments to combine with a morning walk or cycle ride. It is a good counterweight to the palace-heavy itinerary.
Birdlife, river views, and quiet tracks are the draw. Go early, carry water, and do not expect the infrastructure of a major national park.
