Nagpur has one of the most extreme climates of any large Indian city. Summers (April to June) are brutal — temperatures regularly exceed 45°C, and the city periodically records the highest temperatures in India. Avoid this period entirely unless you have no choice.
The monsoon arrives in late June and provides some relief, though the city can get waterlogged. October to March is by far the best time to visit. Winters are mild and dry, with daytime temperatures around 25–30°C and cool nights. This is also the best season for wildlife safaris at the nearby tiger reserves — the forest is less dense after the monsoon, and animals gather around waterholes in the dry months.
The orange harvest runs roughly from November to January, which is when the city's famous fruit is at its best. The Deekshabhoomi is particularly busy on 14 October (Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din) and 14 April (Ambedkar Jayanti).
