Joshi Wadewale

A vada pav stall that has been frying the city's favourite snack on the same corner of Lokmanya Tilak Road in Sadashiv Peth since the 1980s. The vada is light, the pav is fresh, and the garlic chutney is the right combination of dry and fiery. Eat it standing up on the pavement; that is how it is done.

There are several Joshi outlets across Pune now, but the original on Tilak Road is the one to find. Open from morning until early evening. A vada pav costs a few rupees -- pay the man at the till, take the slip to the counter.
