Lady Hydari Park is a small, landscaped green space close to the centre of Shillong, known for its flowerbeds, shaded paths, and easy family atmosphere. It is named after Lady Hydari, wife of a former governor of Assam, and still has the slightly formal feel of a hill-station garden.
The park is best treated as a quiet break between bigger Shillong sights rather than a destination for a whole day. Children are the main audience for the small zoo and play areas, while most travellers will get the most out of a short stroll when the gardens are in bloom.
