Brothers Dhaba

No-frills dhaba food near the Golden Temple

Brothers Dhaba, tucked into the lanes near the Golden Temple complex, is one of the best examples of what Punjabi dhaba cooking can be when it is done properly. Dal makhani, saag, rajma, and fresh roti — simple food cooked in large pots over wood fires. The prices are low enough that it is hard to spend much even if you order generously.

It is the kind of place that locals eat at every day and tourists mostly walk past. The interior is basic; the food is not. Particularly good in the evening when the kitchen has had all day to develop the dal.
