Amritsar has one of the better food cultures in north India. The city is famous for amritsari kulcha (a stuffed flatbread cooked in a tandoor), amritsari fish (battered and fried), and lassi served in clay cups the size of a small bucket. The streets around the Golden Temple and the old city are the best places to eat — the restaurants near the bus stand tend to be cheaper, the ones on Lawrence Road a bit smarter.
