Getting There

Chandigarh's airport, Shaheed Bhagat Singh International, has direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and most major Indian metros, plus a handful of international links to Dubai and Sharjah. It is about 12 km from the city centre, with metered taxis and pre-paid auto-rickshaws at the terminal.

The Shatabdi Express from Delhi is the most pleasant way to arrive — about three and a half hours from New Delhi station, with breakfast served on board. Other express trains connect Chandigarh with Amritsar, Lucknow and Kolkata.

By road, Chandigarh is around 250 km north of Delhi on the well-maintained NH44 — five to six hours by car or air-conditioned Volvo coach. The Inter-State Bus Terminal in Sector 17 is the central hub; another large terminal sits in Sector 43 and handles long-distance services to Himachal Pradesh and Jammu.
