Despite the name, there is nothing hotel-like about Mishrilal — it is a stall near the clock tower that has been serving one thing, and one thing only, for generations: makhaniya lassi. This is not the thin, refreshing lassi of other regions. It is a thick, serious drink, laced with saffron, cardamom, and a spoonful of malai (cream) floating on top. It is served in a clay cup that you are expected to break when you finish.
Jodhpur makes a strong case for having the best lassi in India, and Mishrilal makes a strong case within Jodhpur. Come in the late morning before the heat peaks. The queue moves fast and the price is low. If you're only going to drink one thing in the city, make it this.
