The small cluster of cafes that has grown up around Toorji Ka Jhalra since its restoration makes a natural stop between bouts of old-city wandering. Stepwell Cafe sits close enough to the stepwell's edge that you can watch the light on the water while you drink your coffee. The menu is simple — chai, filter coffee, cold drinks, a few snacks — and the prices are higher than a dhaba but fair for the location.
This is a good place to rest your feet in the mid-morning, after the early hours of bazaar walking and before the heat makes moving around less pleasant. The crowd is a mix of other travelers and some local young people. Sit facing the stepwell; that view is what you came for.
