Panchhi Petha

If there is a single edible souvenir from Agra, it is petha — a translucent, slightly chewy sweet made from ash-gourd boiled in sugar syrup. Panchhi is the oldest and most famous petha house, founded in the 1930s, with branches across the city. The original on Hari Parbat Road is where most locals buy.

Try the plain (safed), the kesar (saffron-flavoured), the paan-flavoured, and the dry chocolate variants. Sold by the kilo in cardboard boxes — they travel well and are far better than any souvenir-shop trinket.
