Madanmohan Temple

Late 17th-century Krishna temple with lively terracotta scenes from Hindu epics.

Madanmohan Temple sits a little north of the main Rasmancha cluster and is worth the extra ride. Built in 1694 by Durjana Singh Deva, it follows the ekaratna form: a square, flat-roofed brick temple with a single tower rising above it.

Its terracotta panels are lively rather than severe, showing stories from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Krishna tradition. The temple remains devotional as well as historic, so visit with the same respect you would give an active shrine.
