Aloobari Monastery is a quieter Buddhist monastery on the road from Darjeeling toward Jorbunglow. Founded in 1914, it is less visited than the better-known monasteries around Ghoom, but the hillside setting gives broad views toward the Tiger Hill area.
The monastery is a good stop for travellers who want a quieter religious site and a short detour from the main Darjeeling circuits. Go respectfully, especially around prayer areas, and allow time for the views as well as the monastery buildings.
