Sanur Beach

Long, reef-sheltered family beach with a paved promenade

Sanur Beach is a five-kilometre crescent of grey-gold sand on the southeast coast of Bali, sheltered from open ocean by an offshore coral reef. Unlike the surf beaches of Kuta and Canggu, the water here is calm and shallow — at low tide the reef sits exposed and the shoreline retreats sharply; at high tide it is one of the best swimming beaches on the south coast, and a good place for novices to learn to stand up paddleboard or windsurf. The paved beachfront promenade runs the full length, lined with warungs, dive shops, masseuses on plastic chairs, and a steady stream of joggers and cyclists at first light.
