Gedung Djakarta Lloyd

Gedung Djakarta Lloyd is one of Kota Lama's quieter colonial landmarks, designed by Thomas Karsten in 1930 for Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland, then one of the major Dutch shipping companies. Its shipping-office past fits Semarang perfectly: this old quarter was built on trade, ports, and warehouses.

The building is still used as an office, so the interest is mostly from the street. See it as part of a Kota Lama walk with Blenduk Church, the old post office, and Tawang station.
