Pulau Run is a small island in the Banda group with a history far bigger than its size. In the 17th century, this remote nutmeg island mattered enough to European empires that England eventually gave up its claim here in return for Dutch recognition of English rule in Manhattan.
The island is quiet now. Nutmeg trees still grow above the village, boats come over from Banda Neira, and the coast has the clear water and slow pace that make the Banda Islands worth the long trip. Run is not polished, and that is part of the appeal: you come for spice-trade history, simple island walking, and the white sand of nearby Nailaka Island.
Give it a day if you are already in the Bandas. Walk through the village and plantations, swim at Lokong Beach, and arrange a small boat to Nailaka when the sea is calm.
