Narin Castle dominates Meybod, northwest of Yazd, as a layered mud-brick fortress whose origins are often described as pre-Islamic. Its eroded walls, towers, and high mound give a strong sense of desert defensive architecture.
The castle is best visited as part of a Meybod excursion, combined with the town's caravanserai, ice house, and old urban fabric. Late afternoon light is especially kind to the mud-brick surfaces.
