Sea of Galilee Boat

The Sea of Galilee Boat, often called the Jesus Boat, is a first-century fishing vessel displayed at Kibbutz Ginosar north of Tiberias. It is not connected to a named biblical figure, but its date and construction make it a rare survival from the world of the lake's ancient fishermen.

The museum is small and focused. It pairs well with Magdala or Mount Arbel if you are spending a half day north of Tiberias.

A story
The boat was discovered in 1986 when drought lowered the lake and exposed its outline in the mud. Local volunteers and archaeologists worked around the clock to keep the fragile timbers from disintegrating as they lifted it out.
