Gekkō-ji Temple was founded in the 1840s to memorialize victims of the Tenpō famine. Its main hall is known for a large copper Buddha, with stones bearing ancestors' names placed inside the figure, giving the temple a strong local memorial character beyond its quiet religious setting.
