Tonomachi is the classic Tsuwano stroll: white-walled houses, old gates, stone-lined canals, and carp moving slowly through the water. It is not a large preserved district, but it gives the town its most recognisable street scene.
Come here between the shrine and the museums rather than treating it as a separate attraction. The pleasure is in the pace: a quiet lane, a few garden walls, and the sense that Tsuwano's best material is still woven into ordinary town life.
