Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park

Tamozawa Imperial Villa was built in 1899 for Emperor Taisho and later served as a wartime retreat for Hirohito. The villa combines Edo-period, Meiji, and Taisho architectural elements, with tatami rooms, painted screens, and long corridors looking onto formal gardens.

It is one of Nikko's best stops outside the main shrine complex, especially for visitors interested in imperial history and traditional Japanese domestic architecture.
