Isegahama is one of Hyuga's better-known beaches and has been listed by Japan's Ministry of the Environment among the country's notable swimming beaches. It faces open water, so it has more wave action than a sheltered town beach.
In summer a lifeguard is usually stationed here and the beach is a straightforward swimming stop. Outside calm conditions, treat the surf and rip currents with respect and enjoy it more as a scenic coast walk.
