The Aqaba branch of the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation's craft network, on a small street next to the Archaeological Museum, sells fairly priced traditional handicrafts produced by women's cooperatives across Jordan. The catalogue: hand-embroidered textiles from the Jordan Valley, mosaics from Madaba, silver from Bedouin makers, ceramics from Iraq al-Amir, soaps from olive oil cooperatives, and the foundation's well-known reproductions of Roman and Byzantine mosaic panels.
Prices are fixed and a clear cut above the haggling-required souk stalls; quality is high; and a good share of the income goes directly to the producing cooperatives. A useful one-stop for serious souvenir shopping. Open mornings and late afternoons, closed during the midday heat.
