Ban Phanom is a weaving village about 3 kilometres east of Luang Prabang's center. The Lu people who live here originally came from Sip Song Panna in southern China's Yunnan province and are known for their cotton and silk weaving. You can watch weavers at their looms and buy textiles directly. It makes a pleasant bicycle ride from town.
