The seafood restaurants lining the old harbour are the main draw for eating in Byblos. Fish grilled over wood, mezze heavy on local herbs and olive oil, and fresh-caught seafood prepared in Lebanese coastal style — this is reliable, good-quality food in a setting that would be hard to improve. Prices are higher than inland Lebanon but reasonable by Mediterranean tourist-town standards. Most restaurants serve alcohol, which is not always guaranteed in other parts of the country.
Beyond seafood, the old souk area has several casual spots serving Lebanese staples — grilled meats, hummus, fattoush, and the full mezze spread. For a more upscale evening, the harbour restaurants accommodate bookings and fill up on summer weekends when Beirut residents arrive in numbers.
