Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park

Walk-in garden housing over 120 butterfly species inside the Lake Gardens, with a small insect museum

A walk-in aviary in the Lake Gardens stocked with several thousand butterflies of around 120 Malaysian species, fluttering through a landscaped jungle garden complete with stream, pond, and small waterfalls. The conditions are kept hot and humid — typical of Malaysian rainforest — and the butterflies feed openly on cut fruit and flowers along the paths.

A small museum at the back displays mounted insect collections and live tarantulas and scorpions. Less famous than the neighbouring KL Bird Park but smaller, calmer, and arguably more pleasant. About an hour is enough. Open 9 am to 4.30 pm daily. The entrance is a short walk from the bird park, also within the Lake Gardens.
