Gunung Raya is Langkawi's highest mountain and one of the island's best inland viewpoints. A road climbs through rainforest toward the summit area, trading beach scenery for cooler air, hornbills, forest sounds, and broad island views when the weather is clear.
It is a good counterweight to Langkawi's cable car and beach stops. Go early or after rain has cleared, and expect mist or cloud to shape the experience as much as the panorama.
