Pantai Pasir Hitam, usually called Black Sand Beach, is one of Langkawi’s odder coastal stops. The dark streaks in the sand are the attraction, turning an otherwise modest northern beach into a place with a story and plenty of local legend attached.
Come for a short wander, a photograph, and the small stalls rather than for Langkawi’s best swimming. The beach is less beautiful than Datai or Cenang, but it adds texture to a drive around the island and is easy to combine with nearby northern-coast sights.
