The Coronation Memorial Clock Tower stands in the centre of Kuala Kangsar, on the corner of Jalan Kangsar and Jalan Daeng Selili. A slim octagonal stone tower of three storeys, it was erected in 1937 to mark the coronation of King George VI — an unusually elaborate piece of imperial commemoration for a town the size of Kuala Kangsar, reflecting the close ties between the Perak sultanate and the British administration.
The clock face still works and the tower remains a useful navigational landmark on a walking tour of the town. It sits five minutes' walk north of the royal mosque and palace cluster, on the route to the railway station.
