Lakeside is small and walkable end-to-end in 25 minutes. For longer trips around Pokhara, taxis are cheap (300–600 NPR for most rides) and easily flagged on the street; agree the price before getting in. Cheap motorcycle and scooter rentals are everywhere along Lakeside (1,000–1,500 NPR a day, helmet included); the riding is reasonable once you accept Nepali road habits. Bicycles, including basic mountain bikes, rent for 300–500 NPR a day.
The new airport (PIA) and the Lekhnath/Begnas area are too far for walking — take a taxi or a local bus from the Prithvi Chowk bus station in central Pokhara. Sarangkot and the World Peace Pagoda are best done as taxi-drop-and-walk-back outings.
