Pokhara is 200 km west of Kathmandu — nominally a seven-hour bus ride, often longer on the winding Prithvi Highway. The comfortable tourist buses (Greenline, Jagadamba) leave both cities every morning. Pokhara International Airport (PKR) opened in 2023 and handles domestic flights from Kathmandu (30 minutes) plus a few Chinese connections; domestic flights from Kathmandu are frequent and cheap.
