The long strip of guesthouses, restaurants, trekking shops and bars that runs for almost two kilometres along the eastern shore of Phewa Lake. Officially Baidam, universally called Lakeside, this is where almost every traveller in Pokhara ends up sleeping, eating and drinking. Pavements, bicycle rentals, second-hand bookshops, paragliding offices and souvenir stalls are all in concentrated supply.
The northern end is older and has cheaper guesthouses and a slightly more village-y feel; the central strip is the busiest, with the lake-front bars and the live-music venues; the southern Damside (Pardi) end is quieter and closer to Davis Falls and the dam. The whole strip is walkable; bikes can be rented for a few hundred rupees a day.
