Tashiling Tibetan Settlement

Tibetan refugee village on the south side of Pokhara, near Davis Falls

The closest of the four Pokhara Tibetan refugee settlements to Lakeside, just down the road from Davis Falls. About 700 Tibetans live in Tashiling, working the carpet looms, raising chickens, and running a handful of small handicraft shops along the entry road.

A small monastery sits at the centre of the settlement, with morning and evening prayers. The carpet workshop is open to visitors and the rugs are sold direct from the loom; bargaining is gentler than in Lakeside. The visit fits naturally with a Davis Falls / Gupteshwor cave outing — a good combined half-day from Lakeside.
