Butt Karahi is the most famous of the karahi-specialist restaurants in Lakshmi Chowk — the night-time food district where rows of restaurants spill onto the pavement with cauldrons of bubbling chicken and mutton karahi. The original Butt has been at the chowk for over fifty years.
Order chicken karahi (more delicate) or mutton karahi (richer), kilos rather than portions, with hot naan, raita, and salad. The waiter will bring everything to a metal table outside. Loud, smoky, and outstanding; best after 9 p.m. when the chowk is in full swing.
