Malam Jabba

Malam Jabba is a hill station 39 km northeast of Saidu Sharif, accessed by a switchbacking road up from the main Swat highway. The mountain has Pakistan's only commercial ski operation, with a chairlift, a couple of cleared runs, and a rebuilt hotel at the base. The season is typically December to March, conditions permitting.

In summer the same hills are a popular escape from the lower valley heat — there are short hiking trails, ziplines, and quad bikes for hire, plus a chairlift that runs in summer to a viewpoint over the valley. The road up is steep and narrow; allow 90 minutes from Saidu Sharif.

A story
Malam Jabba has the only proper ski resort in Pakistan — a small Italian-built chairlift station that was destroyed by the Taliban in 2008, then rebuilt and reopened. It is at 2,652 metres, with the runs topping out around 3,200.
