The cathedral anchors the central plaza of Bacolod and is one of the city's most important landmarks. Built in the Spanish colonial baroque style, the interior rewards a look even if you are not religious — the gilded altars, painted ceiling and coloured light through the windows make it a cool, quiet contrast to the heat outside. Mass is held frequently and the church is busy with worshippers throughout the day.
