The oldest university in Negros Occidental, founded in 1941 by the Augustinian Recollect friars on a 15-hectare property donated by the prominent Lizares family. The sprawling campus along Lizares Avenue is one of the greenest spots in Bacolod, with mature trees shading the walkways between buildings.
The main building and chapel reflect mid-century Filipino institutional architecture. For visitors, the grounds offer a quiet escape from the busy city centre — a pleasant place for a morning walk. The university museum occasionally hosts exhibits on local history and Negrense culture.
