Day Trips

A list of Calbayog Day Trips inevitably includes visiting numerous barangays or smaller districts of Calbayog. Calbayog is among the most toured cities in Samar—a prominent province of Philippines. Calbayog is made up of more than 150 administrative units, called barangays. Each of these has something to offer to visitors in the form of Calbayog day trips. The most recommended options include:

Visiting Mapaso Springs

Located in the barangay of Rizal II of the Oquendo District, Mapaso are natural, hot-water springs. Visitors need to take a small cab-ride from Calbayog, followed by a small hike to reach the Mapaso Springs. Along with soaking in the hot water pools, visitors can chase the pink-colored crabs that are found here in abundance.

Visiting Mawacat Slide

This is a favored destination among families looking for a safe and enjoyable way to spend the day. The Mawacat is an artificial water-slide but it is very different from the kinds displayed in water-parks. For starters, the slide is massive and has a curvature of more than 45 degrees. It is in the form of a giant spoon and stretches to more than 50 meters in length. The charges are very reasonable, particularly the family packages.

Visiting Guinogo Caves

These caves are located at the fringes of the commercially-progressive Longsob barangay, sandwiched between Oquendo District and the outer boundary of Calbayog. For reaching the cave, visitors need to complete a small, but challenging, hiking trail. The entrance seems to have been derived from a Hollywood blockbuster, complete with tunnel-like pathways and a low, rocky ceiling. The insides of the caves are completely dark in some places and strangely, some parts of the cave are icy cold.
