The Maasin waterfront runs along the Bohol Sea shore and has been developed into a pleasant esplanade with benches, a small park, and views across the water toward the islands of Bohol. In the late afternoon, when the light turns golden and fishing boats return to the port, it is one of the nicer places in Southern Leyte to simply sit and watch the sea.
The passenger ferry terminal for Cebu City is on the northern end of the waterfront, and the boat activity — larger roll-on roll-off ferries, wooden bangka outriggers, cargo vessels — gives the area a working-port energy that feels genuinely Filipino rather than touristy. Vendors sell grilled corn, fish balls, and fresh buko (young coconut) along the promenade in the evening.
